disgusted + hopeful

Disgusted but hopeful,that sums up my feelings over Sunday's home draw with Chelsea..I cannot describe how disgusted I was with Rob Styles after he awarded that "invisible penalty" to Chelsea at 62nd min, when we were leading 1 nil..That penalty decision is ludicrous and that was one of the most shocking referee performance in recent years -_-

It looks like Rob Styles was trying to show he's in charge by brandishing cards after cards, but in actual fact he was losing grip on the game, the flow of the game was interrupted and amidst all he still missed out on Frank Lampard's stamp on Alonso which would have warranted a red card..The circus show which he made a mess of showing 2nd yellow card to Essien but failing to send him off only supports the fact that he was clearly losing his head and screwed things up big time..

I welcome Rob's apology and admitting the penalty shouldn't be given because that was only right.. But how about the 3 points which we rightfully deserved? Apology doesn't give us back the 2 points dropped..if its not supposed to be given so why can't the penalty be written off? if Chelsea could win us, they would have scored a couple of goals after the "invisible" penalty, the fact that they didn't score even after they were gifted a goal through a mistake by the ref, means that there shouldn't be any issue in cancelling that penalty and awarding us the 3 points..I know pple will say there is no way we can reverse decisions and match results and such precedent cannot be set to muddle the rules of the beautiful game.. we know something is wrong and yet there's nothing we can do. Disgusted to the core.

If there's something to cheer me up, it would be Liverpool's performance..its barely the 2nd game of the season and yet we had shown much more industry and intent to win the game compared with last season's opening matches..We always tend to have a slow start to the season and to face Chelsea so early did worried me a little.. but I was pleasantly pleased to see the team come out of the blocks and outplayed Chelsea for most of the game..Pennant had a good game on the right wing, gerrard though nursing a broken toe is a commanding figure in the centre too, our back four are as usual very steady and composed.. torres' 1st goal for Liverpool was a gem to behold, his finishing from an acute angle was really cool and hopefully more will come from this young spaniard :)

Hopefully the feeling of unjust in the Liverpool dressing room that we should win the game will be a catalyst in spurring the team on, the players felt unjust because they knew they are the better team on that day, should have won and the team had improved, if we can continue this intent and belief, we will be in for a shout at the title :)
