permutations..again

The interesting thing about CL is that sometimes we have to squeeze our brain juices on the different permutations which could land us in the knock out stages..of course, if only we had won every match,that would be straight forward and we don't have to go through such trauma..

CL Group Stage Table after 3 games :
1. Marseille 7 points
2. Porto 5 points
3. Besiktas 3 points
4. Liverpool 1 point

Having only 1 point from 3 games means we have no choice but to win all the remaining 3 fixtures (2 home 1 away).

Assumming,LFC wins all,and Besiktas is the weakest and lose to LFC,Porto and Marseille, then the scenerio would be like what I've tabulated.

If,for worst case scenerio, Porto wins Marseille and Besiktas, then Porto will get 11pts and qualify. If Marseille lose to Porto and win Besiktas, then Marseille will get 10pts, same as LFC (if we win all 3 and gets 10pts). Then the head to head with Marseille will come into play..so we must win at least 2 nil in our last game -_-

Liverpool :
7/11 - LFC vs Besiktas (LFC+3PTS)
29/11- LFC vs Porto (LFC+3PTS)
12/12- Marseille vs LFC (LFC+3PTS,win 2-0 for better head to head)
Total = + 9 PTS

Marseille :
7/11 - Porto vs Marseille (MAR +1PT)
29/11- Besiktas vs Marseille (MAR +3PTS)
12/12- Marseille vs LFC (MAR +0PTS)
Total = + 4 PTS

Porto :
7/11 - Porto vs Marseille (POR +1PT)
29/11- LFC vs Porto (POR +0PT)
12/12- Porto vs Besiktas (POR +3PTS)
Total = + 4 PTS

Besiktas :
7/11 - LFC vs Besiktas (BES +0PT)
29/11- Besiktas vs Marseille (BES +0PT)
12/12- Porto vs Besiktas (BES +0PT)
Total = + 0 PT

CL Group Stage Table after 6 games :
1. Marseille 7 pts+4pts =11pts *qualify
2. Porto 5 pts+4pts =9pts
3. Besiktas 3 pts+0pts =3pts
4. Liverpool 1 pt +9pts =10pts *qualify

But,looking at the permutaions, Besiktas actually plays a very important role..if they could snatch a couple of draws or wins somewhere, it will throw the competition wide open.. that's the beauty of footy isn't it ? so many scenerios, so many twists and turns..
